Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (P.B.I.S)
What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) ?
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a strategy aimed at creating safer and more effective schools. It takes a systems-based approach to strengthening schools' capacity to educate all students by developing research-backed behavior support systems for the whole school and individual classrooms. The focus is on enhancing the school's ability to teach and promote positive behavior across all students. Instead of being a one-size-fits-all program, PBIS offers a framework for schools to design, implement, and assess effective behavior support plans for the entire school, specific classrooms, non-classroom settings, and individual students. It includes school-wide procedures and processes that apply to all students and staff across various environments. PBIS is not a curriculum or a set program but a team-driven approach to problem-solving, planning, and evaluation aimed at creating a safe, productive learning atmosphere where teachers can teach, and students can succeed.
